tesa tape Expands Line of Plate Mounting Tapes for Narrow Web Print Industry

Representatives from the Print & Web Processing Team of tesa tape, inc., an affiliate of tesa SE, a global leader in the manufacture and supply of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, are pleased to announce an addition to its line of plate mounting tapes designed specifically for narrow web flexographic printing applications. The new product innovation – tesa Softprint® 52018 Plus Plate Mounting Tape - is an enhanced version of the original product announced just one year ago.

Building on the success of the original tesa Softprint® 52018, tesa Research & Development Engineers have continued to optimize the original product by enhancing two key product components: the tape’s adhesive system and its foam backing system. The resulting product is a fully optimized tesa Softprint® 52018 Plus Plate Mounting Tape designed exclusively for adhering thick printing plates (.067” - .107”) onto narrow diameter print cylinders, and ultimately playing a key role in producing superior finely-screened print images.

Custom Designed Foam Backing System

The enhanced foam backing of tesa Softprint® 52018 Plus is built upon a “super-soft” closed-cell polyethylene foam that harbors high elasticity or “memory” properties, thus ensuring a constant tape thickness and consistent print results throughout the print run. The softness level of the foam enables crisp, clean print production of fine dot patterns.

Optimized Adhesive System

The custom-designed foam backing is coated on both sides with a specially-formulated adhesive system designed to securely adhere to both the printing plate and print cylinder upon initial contact, thus securing the printing plate onto the cylinder. That same adhesive power is maintained throughout the entire production run. The result – superior print quality of fine-screen print patterns!
