tesa® 51180 EasySplice® BoardLine

Today company officials of tesa tape, inc., a division of tesa SE, a global leader in the manufacture and supply of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, announced a new product innovation for producers, printers, and coaters of paperboard. This new product – tesa® 51180 EasySplice® BoardLine – is the newest addition to the company’s extensive EasySplice® family of products designed for web splicing in wide-web printing, coating, and converting markets.

From Paper to Paperboard

The tesa EasySplice® product line has fast become the industry standard for straight-line, high-speed, web-to-web splicing for paper manufacturing, film printing and converting, and newspaper and commercial paper printers. With the introduction of tesa® 51180 EasySplice® BoardLine, the company is now expanding its patented straight-line EasySplice® technology to paperboard printers, coaters, and converters. This new innovation takes roll stock web splicing to a new dimension by enabling a “straight-line” splice pattern applied to each web, as opposed to the complex patterns previously required to secure splices during flying splice applications. Most notably, tesa® 51180 EasySplice® BoardLine is designed to handle full-speed runs, as compared to most splicing tapes that require reduced press speeds at splice points.

tesa® 51180 EasySplice® BoardLine combines a variety of unique elements:

1. A two-part tape system in one strip: the top half of the tape is applied to the top layer of a new roll and acts as the “splicing agent” to the expiring web; the bottom half of the tape is applied to the second layer of the roll to secure the roll’s flap during storage

2. An aggressive adhesive system that ensures strong initial grab

3. High shear resistance that secures the initial position of the tape on the web

4. A strong yet flexible paper backing

5. Easily removable liners
