CHARLOTTE, NC, USA – Info-Flex Edition – March 20, 2005 – Today, company officials of tesa tape, inc., a global leader in the manufacture and supply of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, display a full line of tape products designed specifically for mounting printing plates to cylinders and sleeves for flexographic and label printing applications. This line of tapes, with its rich assortment of sizes and types, is referred to as the “tesa Toolbox of Custom Plate Mounting Tapes”.
The “tesa Toolbox” is a robust collection of “custom” plate mounting tapes that offers press operators numerous tape options for virtually every print job, regardless of the type of press equipment or specific artwork requirements. The first “Toolbox” products were introduced in late 2003 as a matrix of nine 20-mil softprint tapes consisting of three foam densities and three adhesives. Today, the “tesa Toolbox” family consists of over 14 tape products and three distinct thicknesses (15 mil, 20 mil, and 60 mil), enabling any flexographic printer to mix and match the perfect foam density for the artwork with the perfect adhesive formulation for his / her equipment. The result is unparalleled print quality!
The tesa 20 Mil Toolbox
Whether for solid, process, or combination printing, the “tesa Toolbox” has the tape for the job! tesa offers nine unique plate mounting tapes in the 20-mil category – three designed for steel cylinders with plates ranging from .067” to .107”; three more for cylinders with plates ranging from .045” to .067”; and three designed for use with sleeves with plates ranging from .045” to .067”. This full-bodied offering covers the gamut between solid, screen, and fine screen printing, as well as all widely used printing equipment.
The tesa 15 Mil Toolbox
The tesa 15 mil Toolbox offers four distinct cylinder-mountable tapes that offer pristine results for high definition solid / line and fine-screen printing. This family includes two tape choices for plate sizes between .067” to 1.07”, and two more tapes for plates ranging from .045” to .067”. Thin printing plate technology is rapidly becoming commonplace in flexographic printing due to superior print quality results. Two of the new tesa 15 mil Toolbox products (tesa 52115 and tesa 52117) have been specifically designed to maximize the benefits of thin plate technology in modern printing techniques for both label and mid-web flexible packaging printers.
The tesa 60 Mil Toolbox
Coined as “tesa Big FoamTM”, tesa 52060 plate mounting tape combines a closed-cell polyethylene foam and an advanced acrylic adhesive system ideal for printers using plates ranging from .045” to 1.07”. Big Foam’s unique foam backing is scientifically engineered to excel in printing jobs requiring both quality line and process print reproductions. Big Foam’s adhesive system utilizes the latest adhesion technology developed by tesa. This technology ensures both a lift-free print run and a residue-free removal during demount.
