CHARLOTTE, NC, USA - April 1, 2003, - tesa AG,
a global leader in the manufacture and supply of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, today announced the official start of a new subsidiary in Mexico. This new operation, named Technical Tape Mexico, S.A. de C.V. (TTM), gives tesa expanded coverage in North America to now include two warehouses and two manufacturing plants.
Technical Tape Mexico will serve as a sales and distribution company for tesa products manufactured around the world. The warehouse itself is located in Tultitlán, with administrative offices in Mexico City.
During initial start-up phases, TTM will receive support from tesa tape, inc. (North America), a division of tesa AG, for industrial market sales.
The decision to open a Mexico-based warehouse came after a business assessment focusing on customer service and costs. F. Gary Watkins, Vice President of Sales for TTM and tesa tape, inc., expressed his thoughts: With an expanding marketplace in Mexico and a growing desire for tesa products, we decided to make an investment for our business and for our customers. The new distribution center will offer our customers in Mexico numerous benefits, including: reduced lead times, faster and hassle-free deliveries, and pricing in pesos, all of which should make it easier for our customers to do business with us.
President of both TTM and tesa tape, inc., Torsten A. Schermer, elaborated on the decision: the addition of this new center further expands tesa's global network of distribution facilities. With locations in over 50 countries around the world, tesa has positioned itself to provide products and support to efficiently and effectively meet customer demands of the local region. We look forward to enhancing relationships with our current customers in Mexico, as well as introducing prospective clients to tesa's impressive offering.
TTM has joined forces with a leading logistics company to provide its daily warehousing and distribution services. TTM inventory will inhabit a brand new, 122,000 sq. ft. facility, with state-of-the-art technology capabilities. Sales support will continue to be serviced by the current tesa sales personnel in Mexico.
