tesa tape, inc. Refines Business Focus in North America to Sole Concentration on Industrial Markets

CHARLOTTE, NC, USA - December 4, 2003, - tesa tape, inc., a global leader in the manufacture and supply of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, today announced a shift in its North American business focus to strictly concentrate on industrial markets and to eliminate its retail sales channels. This refined focus will allow the company to more fully support its existing and potential customers and distribution partners within industrial market segments.
As part of this decision, the company will no longer operate its manufacturing facility in Middletown, New York. The said facility employed approximately 122 people and predominantly produced duct and masking tape products for its retail business. The facility will remain operational during a transitional period, lasting until approximately February 1, 2004.
To ensure current retail customer needs, tesa representatives signed a definitive agreement with Intertape Polymer Group, Inc., for the sale of its remaining retail business and select assets of its Middletown facility.
