THE SPLICE IS RIGHT... tesa Revamps Tape Assortment for Corrugators

CHARLOTTE, NC, USA - February 5, 2004, - Today, company officials of tesa tape, inc., a global leader in the manufacture and supply of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, announced changes to the company's assortment of splicing tapes for corrugated manufacturers. These changes, including two new product developments, came as a result of continuous product improvement efforts by tesa research and development experts.
The new line of tesa splicing tapes for corrugators consists of two primary products: tesa 50658 and tesa 50605. The first, tesa 50658, is an enhancement to and replacement for the company's previous premier product - tesa 7158. Utilizing a uniquely formulated, water-based acrylic adhesive, tesa 50658 is guaranteed to hold splices for virtually any single, double, and multi-wall corrugated splicing job. This high-performance splicing tape features an elevated temperature resistance factor of up to 425 degrees Fahrenheit, providing outstanding splice performance on heated drums and elevated temperatures. tesa 50658 is the ideal choice for the most demanding corrugated splicing applications.
The company's second new product development - tesa 50605 - is a performance-grade splicing tape ideal for less demanding corrugated splicing jobs. Designed as a replacement for two previous tesa splicing tapes (tesa 50607 and tesa 50453), tesa 50605 is an enhancement over its predecessors due to advanced production technologies.
Benefits and features of both tesa 50658 and tesa 50605 include:
- A water-based acrylic adhesive, lending both high tack / quick stick characteristics, as well as environmental friendliness when compared to standard solvent-based acrylic adhesive systems
- Up to a 10% higher temperature resistance than solvent acrylics - helpful in applications where splices may sit on heating drums
- An extremely smooth liner release that eliminates possible liner tear, which, in turn, allows the operator to leave the liner intact until immediately after the splice loading process, helping to reduce splice contamination possibilities
