tesa® EXPANDS LINE OF TAPES FOR PRINT APPLICATIONS

CHARLOTTE, NC, USA - August 16, 2004 - Today, company officials of tesa tape, inc., a global leader in the manufacture and supply of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, announced a new family of products designed for use in printing applications. This new family -tesa 15-Mil Steel Master TP (Thin Plate) - is the company's latest development in 15-mil (thickness) tapes for specific use in narrow (label) and mid-web printing.
tesa 15-mil Steel Master TP combines secure adhesive properties and easy handling with outstanding print results in label and mid-web printing. Thin printing plate technology is rapidly becoming more common in the flexographic print industry due to superior print quality. The new tesa 15-mil Steel Master TP products are specifically designed to maximize the benefits of thin plate technology in modern printing techniques for both label and mid-web flexible packaging printers.
During print runs, tesa 15-mil Steel Master TP offers superior cushion consistency, resistance to foam fatigue, and secure bonding to plates and cylinders. The new, state-of-the-art adhesive formulation, specifically developed for thin plate technology, prevents warping and tearing thin plates when they are removed from the tape.
tesa 15-mil Steel Master TP is available in two densities; a medium-hard foam (tesa 52115) that is ideal for solid and screen printing, and a soft foam (tesa 52117) for fine screen, process, and vignettes. tesa 52115 is easily identifiable by the blue tesa logo printed on the tape, and tesa 52117 has a red tesa logo printed on the tape.
With the addition of tesa 15-mil Steel Master TP, tesa tape is expanding its toolbox concept of platemounting tapes to label and mid-web printers. The "Toolbox" concept began in November, 2003, with the introduction of a matrix of nine 20-mil softprint tapes consisting of three foam densities and three adhesives. The toolbox enables the printer to match the perfect foam density for the artwork with the perfect adhesive formulation for the equipment. The result is unparalleled print quality and material handling. All tesa softprint tapes feature:
